Evelio is an actor and composer-lyricist in the musical theatre. He teaches Acting and Songwriting.
He received his BFA in drama from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied musical theatre performance at the New Studio on Broadway. He continued his education, and received his MFA in musical theatre writing from the NYU Tisch Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program, where he studied as a composer. He is the recipient of awards from ASCAP, the Frederick Loewe Foundation, and the Shubert Organization. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
Some of his favorite credits as an actor include the Leading Player in Pippin (Henegar Center for the Performing Arts), and Sonny in In The Heights (Gallery Players). Most recently, as a composer-lyricist, he’s developed original work at the Naked Angels, Dixon Place, the Davenport Theatre, Goodspeed Musicals, and Joe’s Pub (Pompeii, Work Song, Waikiki, and others).
